The Home Front - Life During 'Total War'
The concept of a 'Home Front' - when British civilians were mobilised en masse to support a total war effort - dates from World War One. The Wirral Home Front Society attended the exhibition to provide demonstrations of 1916 recipes and provisions. Volunteers described how those at home were expected and encouraged to do their bit.
